Introduction: ICT has changed the scenario of libraries. Due to emergence of ICT, the way of handling books and other reading material has completely changed. The current seminar is aimed at showcasing unparallel information on the latest trends and development affecting future of libraries which in turn posing different issues and challenges to library professionals. The emerging issues and challenges are needed to be handled successfully for the future survival of libraries and library professionals. User’s perception, demands and information seeking behavior have changed over the years; the user’s wants to have more efficient, reliable and authentic information in various forms and formats at reduced costs and time. This has created challenges to libraries and library professionals to reshape the future of libraries in terms of information products, services and staff. The user community is moving from traditional ways of accessing and acquiring information towards advance techniques of accessing and acquiring information of their interest. The latest trends and developments are leaving everlasting affects on the future of libraries. However, the issues and challenges libraries are facing today will be the main concerns of the event. Furthermore, the seminar will also try to highlight various strategies to handle the issues and challenges libraries are facing and future prospects of libraries will also be discussed in the present scenario. The seminar will be beneficial for the faculty members, library and information professionals and scholars from all over India.

About the Organizers:
ICSSR: Indian Council of Social Science Research was established in the year of 1969 by the Government of India to promote research in Social Sciences in the country. This Council is meant to advise the Government of India on all matters pertaining to Social Sciences Research as may be referred to it from time to time; and take such measures generally as may be necessary from time to time to promote Social Science Research and its utilization.

University of Jammu: University of Jammu, accredited as 'A' Grade University by National  Assessment & Accreditation Council of India came into existence in 1969 vide Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The University provides instructions in several branches of learning as it deems fit and makes provision for research and the advancement and dissemination of knowledge. The University stands for spiritual and material elements in life thirst for knowledge and virtue under the backdrop of holy peaks of Trikuta Hills.
The Department of Library and Information Science (earlier Department of Library Science) was established in 1971 in the Old University Campus and a Certificate course in Library Science was started. In1983-84, B.Lib.Sc program was introduced by the University, as Prof. J.S. Sharma took charge as Chief Librarian and Head, Department of Library Science. He brought with him a rich and varied experience of Library Science Education and Library Services.  From the session 1985-86, the Department also started the M.Lib.Sc and PhD program in Library Science. In 1998, the department was shifted to a separate wing allocated on the ground floor of the Central Library of University of Jammu. The department has a separate library, lecture halls, faculty rooms and IT laboratory. The Department is recognized as Programme Study Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi since 1995. In 2008, the nomenclature of the Department was changed from Post Graduate Department of Library Science to Post Graduate Department of Library and Information Science. The Department is well equipped with latest I.T. facility. The departmental library has a rich collection of 3500 books along with National/ International repute periodicals.
            Thrust areas of research in the Department are Human Resource Management, IT Application to Libraries, Agriculture Information/ Knowledge System and Public Library System. Courses being offered in the Department are- Bachelor of Library & Information Science (1 year duration), Master of Library & Information Science (1 year duration) and PhD in Library & Information Sciences.
About Jammu: Jammu the land of ancient temple has spread in around 3097 sq. Km. area with about 15, 71,911 population. Jammu is the winter capital of J&K state. The upland region of Kishtwar, Rajouri, Doda, Poonch and Bhadarwah is geographically similar to Kashmir and is known for walnuts, morels and saffron. While the lower hilly area, around Jammu is famous for aromatic ‘Basmati’ rice and dried Pomegranate seeds.
Jammu region is dotted with many places of interests as well as number of important shrines and is a veritable paradise of spiritualism. The biggest attraction of Jammu region is the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, which is visited by millions of devotees every year.
Climate: The weather is generally pleasant and cool during March. The temperature ranges between 7 to 18 Degree Celsius and require light woolen during night.
Attraction of Jammu: Participants can visit historical places, temples and hill stations, etc. in and around Jammu.

Market- Raghunath Bazar and Hari Market famous for Kashmiri Handicrafts i.e. Kashmiri embroidery shawls, suits, sarees, floor coverings, papier-mache craft, wood carvings, willow baskets, various dry fruits chiefly walnuts and almonds. Jammu is known for the superlative quality of its Basmati Rice, Rajma (Red Beans), Anardana (dry pomegranate seeds), sweets like Lachhedaar Patissa and Milk Cake.
Call for Papers:
Scholars interested in presenting research papers in the Seminar are requested to submit their papers on or before 16 February 2016, so that papers may be included in seminar proceeding. The selected papers will be published in Pre- Seminar proceeding bearing ISBN. Without seminar registration, paper will not be considered for proceeding publication. Paper should be typed in A4 size papers with 1.5 line spacing. APA Citation style must be followed for the references. Paper must not be longer than 10-12 pages (2500- 3000 words). Paper must be attached with author declaration form on the prescribed Performa.
